EPSS Copenhagen 2027
Pre-Conference Workshops,
Wednesday, 23 June 2027
Proposal Deadline: 13 November 2026
The Conference Committee invites proposals for pre-conference workshops to be held in advance of the EPSS 2027 Conference in Copenhagen. The pre-conference workshops will take place on Wednesday, 23 June, at the University of Copenhagen. Pre-conference workshops are designed to foster focused, in-depth discussion, skill-building, and collaboration among scholars at all career stages.
We welcome proposals that engage a broad range of topics and approaches within political science and related fields, including innovative research agendas, methodological training, pedagogy, and professional development.
Submission Process and Deadline
Proposals should be submitted via this form by 13 November 2026. Applicants will be notified of decisions by mid February. We aim to send out workshop acceptances together with EPSS paper acceptances, for better planning. We will publish a list of accepted workshops on the EPSS website.
Questions about the pre-conference workshops may be directed to conference@epssnet.org. We very much look forward to receiving your proposals and to an engaging set of workshops that will enrich the conference experience.
Workshop Format
Workshops may be organized as half-day or full-day sessions and may take a variety of formats, including but not limited to:
- Research- or theme-based workshops
- Methodological or technical training sessions
- Professional development or teaching-focused workshops
- Collaborative, network-building, or community-oriented events
Participant Composition
Workshops should propose a core group of participants while reserving some places for other interested researchers to join the workshop. Participants can either be presenters or attendees (i.e. interested audience members). Organizers proposing a closed workshop should note this, and their reasoning, in the proposal.
Proposal Submission Requirements
Proposals should include the following information.
- Workshop title
- Names and institutional affiliations of organizers
- Workshop description (approximately 500 words), outlining the workshop’s objectives, format, and intended audience
- Proposed duration (half-day or full-day)
- Anticipated number of participants
- Number of conference rooms required
- Plans for participant recruitment or selection (if applicable)
- Preliminary agenda or session outline
Financial Responsibilities
Please note the following logistical details:
Organizers are asked to indicate whether they are able to contribute, in full or in part, toward the room maintenance fees that need to be covered at the University of Copenhagen: 500EUR for a full-day workshop and 250EUR for a half-day workshop, per conference room required. Costs that are not covered by the organizers will have to be covered by some or all workshop participants.
Workshop organisers will have the option of arranging group catering or participants may purchase food individually from on-campus facilities; further information about the available options and costs will be provided in due course.
Selection Process
All proposals will be reviewed and selected by the Conference Organizing Committee. The Committee will aim to assemble a diverse and engaging set of workshops that complement the main conference program.
The pre-conference workshop selection is chaired by Anita Gohdes.
