How many papers can I submit?
We put a constraint of max one presentation per person.
This does not prevent you from being a coauthor on papers that others are presenting,
or limit your roles as a discussant or chair.
Are there organized panels or symposia?
No, we don’t have organized panels or symposia anymore. Instead, we encourage attendees to use
the pre-conference workshops on Wednesday, June 23 2027, as a venue for networking, idea exchange,
and professional collaboration.
Do I have to be a professor or a PhD student?
You do not have to be a professor or a PhD student.
We welcome submissions from students, practitioners, and others.
What matters is the quality of the work, not your status.
Can I submit a paper in any other language than English?
No, the conference language is English.
Will the submission deadline be extended?
No. The submission deadline is firm, so please ensure that you submit your proposal in good time.
Will there be travel grants for the Copenhagen conference?
Yes. We are commited to providing approximately 15 travel grants to PhD students and junior scholars who
are currently affiliated with an institution in a country in Europe (broadly defined) that is underrepresented at EPSS.
Grants include a registration fee waiver and a stipend toward travel costs.
The call for applications will open in 2027, once paper acceptances for the Copenhagen conference are announced.
Grant decisions will be made in time for recipients to register before the conference’s registration deadline.
Can I propose an Author Meets Critics session, and how do I submit a proposal?
Yes. EPSS welcomes proposals for Author Meets Critics sessions, which provide an opportunity to discuss recently published books or other scholarly work.
Proposals should be submitted directly by email to the relevant section chairs (one section only), rather than through the Oxford Abstracts submission system. Please include a brief description of the proposed session, the book or work to be discussed, and the names of the proposed participants, including the author(s) and critics.
Section chairs will review proposals and decide whether they can be accommodated within their section’s programme.
Does this participation count towards the one-presentation-per-person rule?
No. Participating as an author or critic in an Author Meets Critics session does not count towards the one-presentation-per-person rule. Participants may therefore also present one regular paper at the conference.
